The 3-day-1-night Volunteer Trip of Deyi School Students (Singapore) At Nui Tuong

Last November, a group of 32 students and 6 teachers from Deyi Secondary School in Singapore embarked on a field trip to Vietnam and participated in various community activities at Nui Tuong Education Organization. This is one of the annual programs of the Deyi education system designed to provide students with engaging experiences and opportunities to contribute to the community.

Over three days, from November 7 to November 19, in the rural area of Tan Phu, Dong Nai, the students engaged in various activities such as painting classrooms, decorating wooden bridges, paving yards, gardening, and learning to cook. These new and challenging tasks were not easy for city students, yet they strived to complete them with enthusiasm and the boundless energy of youth.

Additionally, the group from Singapore had the opportunity to enjoy Vietnamese culinary culture with various local dishes. Interestingly, the students took the initiative to wash their dishes after meals using a “dishwashing assembly line” set up in the garden.

On the final day of the journey, Deyi students and Nui Tuong’s core students organized a community day for local children. More than 60 kids participated in activities such as making flower wreaths, kicking shuttlecocks, building stick structures, and passing balls. During the evening cultural exchanges, many thoughts, aspirations, and dreams were shared, along with valuable lessons. Through these interactions, students from both countries had the opportunity to engage in cultural exchange, gain a deeper understanding of each other’s cultures, and foster a greater sense of pride in their own countries.

The Deyi School group from Singapore first visited Nui Tuong in 2023, contributing to the construction of a bridge and a toilet. This year, they returned with a drainage yard project, further enhancing Nui Tuong’s infrastructure. These heartfelt contributions from the international community have strengthened the Nui Tuong Education Organization’s belief in its educational mission, providing more resources to support and nurture the dreams of the local younger generation.
